Pay range: $72,000.00 to $87,000.00

Position Overview:
Powerhouse Controls is seeking a Junior / Intermediate Electrical Design Technologist to support the digital modeling of existing industrial electrical panels and systems. This role is not a traditional electrical design position. The successful candidate will be trained to use EPLAN Pro Panel to create accurate 3D layouts and digital twins based on established electrical designs.
This position is intended for an individual with some prior design experience and CAD exposure, a solid understanding of how control panels are built, and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office. The role emphasizes accuracy, constructability, and data quality, while offering structured training and growth toward more advanced digital engineering responsibilities.

What You’ll Do: 
Electrical Modeling & Digital Twin Development
  • Create and maintain EPLAN Pro Panel 3D panel layouts derived from existing schematics and designs
  • Develop accurate digital representations of control panels, reflecting real-world build practices
  • Model components, wire routing, terminals, cable management, and enclosure layouts
  • Apply attention to detail to ensure models are suitable for manufacturing and costing
Design Interpretation
  • Interpret electrical schematics, panel drawings, and supporting documentation
  • Translate existing designs into digital models without changing design intent
  • Identify inconsistencies or constructability concerns and escalate appropriately
Quoting & Estimating Support
  • Use Powerhouse’s internal quoting tool to support material and labor estimates
  • Ensure models and data accurately support bills of material
  • Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to clarify scope and assumptions
Documentation & Data Handling
  • Support generation and maintenance of documentation used by manufacturing and procurement
  • Use Microsoft Excel and other Office tools extensively for data review, tracking, and coordination
  • Maintain organized and accurate project records
Collaboration & Development
  • Work closely with senior engineers, panel shop personnel, and project teams
  • Learn and adopt Powerhouse’s digital engineering workflows and tools
  • Progressively take on increased responsibility as proficiency develops

What You Bring: 
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 1–5 years of relevant experience in electrical design, drafting, or engineering support roles
  • Prior CAD experience (electrical or mechanical) with the ability to learn new platforms quickly
  • Some hands-on or practical awareness of panel building, including enclosure layouts and wiring practices
  • Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and panel drawings
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to work within defined processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to EPLAN (Electric P8 and/or Pro Panel)
  • Experience in industrial automation, controls, or panel shop environments
  • Familiarity with BOM creation, estimating, or quoting activities
  • Experience working from existing designs rather than creating new systems
